Dental implants are the preferred method for replacing a missing tooth or teeth for many dentists and patients. Our office provides single dental implants, which are meant to fill in gaps in a patient’s smile, as well as implant-supported dentures, which are used to replace many missing teeth at once. What is the dental implant process like?
The dental implant process begins with a local anesthetic being administered to completely numb the teeth and gums. Next, a small incision is made in the gums to access the jawbone and create a small hole. The titanium implant is then carefully placed in the jawbone, and over the course of several weeks, the gums will heal, and the implant will fuse with the jawbone. A custom, permanent dental crown can then be attached to the top of the implant that is designed to blend in with the surrounding teeth and complete the patient’s smile.
Should I get a bridge or a dental implant?
Whether you’re leaning more towards one option over the other or you have no idea what your smile needs, our team would be happy to assist you. Patients will often choose dental bridges over implants because they are less invasive and costly and require less recovery time. Patients who decide to go with dental implants tend to do so because they want a restoration that will last for decades and look, feel, and function similarly to a real tooth. Many patients who have healthy jawbones and are in general good health can receive dental implants.
Are dental implants affordable?
Dental implants tend to be more of a financial investment than other restorations like crowns, bridges, and even dentures. However, many patients find the cost to be completely worth it due to how stable and natural dental implants feel and how long they last. If you have dental insurance, we will do our best to maximize your benefits to get as much of the treatment covered as possible. Our office also accepts CareCredit® payment plans, which divide the cost of services like dental implants into manageable monthly payments.
